One of the last things you want to see when you are running a website is that your content has been deleted due to censorship. If you’re picking a host from our review pages, then chances are, you don’t have to deal with this too often, but now and then, you may find yourself stepping on the wrong set of toes and having your hard work removed.
So how do you deal with content that some people might find offensive? That is of, perhaps, a sexual nature, or that is controversial, or politically sensitive? There are a few ways to go about it, and it all depends on the exact nature of the situation, the content, and who’s hosting your content…

Pleading/Appealing

Sometimes, the only reason they removed your content was because some busybody issued a complaint. These days, it’s so easy to offend people on the web that it’s easier for hosts to just delete everything on the first complaint, and then put it back up if you make a good case for it. Fair? Maybe not. But sometimes you will find the moderators to be more reasonable than you expected.

Being Sneaky

There’s a golden rule when it comes to things like swearing, sexuality, etc: Always go one step lower than you could have gone. For instance, if you show a naked person from the back, we all know you could have shown them from the front. By toning it down yourself just a bit, you prevent other people from wanting to tone it down a lot.

Find a New Host

Sometimes, you really have no choice but to find a new host. Some hosts are too quick to shut down any site that registers a few complaints, while others gladly host controversial and adult content. Finding the host that’s right for you means more than just unlimited space at a fair price.
